Auto body shop work in Cleveland, metal first

This is a metal shop rather than a paint shop. Rust repair, panel replacement, collision structure and body modifications, done in steel and finished ready for paint.

The difference between this and a collision centre is where the work stops. We do the metal: cutting out rot, fabricating and welding in panels, straightening structure, dressing welds and treating everything so it does not come back. What we do not do is chase insurance work or run a paint booth.

That is why a lot of the cars here arrive after somebody else said no. A twelve year old daily driver with rockers and cab corners gone is not economic for a collision centre, but it is a straightforward afternoon of cutting and welding, and it buys the owner several more winters.

Questions about auto body work

Do you paint the car after the repair?

No. We take the metal work through to dressed, treated and ready for paint, and you take it to your painter. Being honest about that up front saves everybody time.

My car was turned down by a body shop because of rust. Can you help?

That is a large share of what comes through here. A car being uneconomic to a collision centre and a car being unrepairable are two different things, and the second is much rarer than the first.

Do you repair aluminum body panels?

Yes. Aluminum takes cleaner prep and tighter heat control than steel, which is why many shops will not take it, but it is regular work here.
