Not every welding job on a vehicle has a category. A bracket snaps off a subframe, a tow eye tears out, a heat shield mount breaks, a skid plate mounting point pulls through. None of those are rim repair or frame repair or exhaust repair, they are just a piece of metal that broke and needs putting back.
That is most of what comes through a general auto welding shop, and it is the reason people call rather than searching for a specific service. The vehicle has something wrong with it that a parts counter cannot solve, and somebody with a welder can.
A weld overhead under a car and a weld on a bench are different jobs even on identical metal. Gravity works against the puddle overhead, so the process, the current and the travel speed all change.
